The Australian Body Art Carnivale 2014

Theme: Dreams & Nightmares
Eumundi Amphitheatre

Don’t miss this crazy, colourful weekend!
The 2014 Australian Body Art Carnivale will be taking place on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May.

Australia’s premier body art event, the Carnivale is a colourful and creative festival experience for all ages, and is FREE for members of the public.

The Australian Body Art Carnivale is held annually in the artistic Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Eumundi, only 15 minutes from Noosa and around an hour north of Brisbane.

Event Manager Danielle Taylor says the event is nothing short of a spectacle centred around body art in its many and varied forms.

The 2014 theme is the ”Dreams & Nightmares” which lends itself to a wide range of interpretations for artists.

As the name suggests, the Australian Body Art Carnivale certainly has a strong focus on body art in its many and varied forms – from the more readily seen face painting right through to full body painting in the categories of brush and sponge, airbrush and special effects. For members of the public, it’s an event like nothing you’ve seen before to watch the human canvases take shape during the competitions..

While we will have experienced body and make-up artists competing, body art experience is not a prerequisite. Many entrants in previous Carnivales had never before painted on a body – they simply used their artistic flair to work on a very different canvas … the human body!

And it’s not just body art competitions. The Carnivale will also host competitions and exhibitions in:

Wearable Art
(fabulous fashion made from recycled treasures)

Vehicle Body Art – a Show & Shine comp for those with vehicles already painted, along with a Car Bonnet Art comp where artists paint a car bonnet

Photography (photo print + digital categories)

The Carnivale will also see world-class street performers, buskers and bands, craft workshops, a Saturday Night Gala Event (ticketed) and a whole lot more.

Visit for more info, competition registration, sponsorship opportunities and to sign up to receive eNewsletters in the lead-up to the event.

For more info email organisers via the website or contact Event Manager Danielle Taylor on 0403 023 802.

Dennis Locorriere (pronounced Low-core-ee-air) was a founding member, lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter for the internationally popular, multi-million selling music group, Dr Hook. Locorriere penned songs have been recorded and performed by artists such as Helen Reddy, Lou Rawls, BJ Thomas, Olivia Newton-John, Southside Johnny, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan. As a solo artist, Locorriere has played at countless prestigious venues (Festival Hall Melbourne, Royal Concert Hall Glasgow, Liverpool Philharmonic) and festivals including the UK’s Glastonbury and has released 3 critically acclaimed albums, as well as a top charting concert DVD and a well received book of poetry and cartoons. In an evening of unparalleled intimacy, his latest oneman show, takes his audience, in story and song, through his entire career, performing popular selections from his ‘Hook days’ as well as new favourites from his solo albums. This will be Dennis’ first tour to Australia since 2005, and he looks forward to performing in front of fans old and new as he takes his audience on a trip through his years with DR HOOK and beyond.
